☆Between January 1st and January 3rd, many Japanese people visit a Shinto shrine to pray for health and safety in the new year.
「1月1日〜3日に、多くの日本人が、健康と無事をお祈りしに神社に行きます。」

☆At the shrine, we toss a monetary offering into an offering box and purchase good luck charms or a ceremonial arrow thought to protect against evil.
We also draw a fortune paper and see their fortune for the coming year.

「神社では、賽銭を投げ魔除けの破魔矢やお守りを買ったり、おみくじを引いて今年の吉凶を占います。」
